BruinMUN 32

Hello Esteemed Delegates and Advisors,

My name is Kamran Sheriff and it is my honor to serve as Secretary General for the 32nd iteration of BruinMUN along with some of the best people I have ever known on the Secretariat and staff alike. It is also my pleasure to welcome you onto UCLA’s campus as BruinMUN 32 transpires on the weekend of November 9th -10th. In this conference, you will debate with like-minded colleagues across twenty-six different committees on topics spread out all over the world and throughout history. These twenty-six committees include fifteen general assembly and ECOSOC committees, 5 specialized committees, and 6 crisis committees. Of these aforementioned committees, 10 of them will be novice committees to cater to younger and more inexperienced delegates and to function as a gateway to one of the most fulfilling activities I have participated in as a student.

Upon being presented with their topics, delegates will sharpen their research skills and develop niche interests in various issues that affect and influence an increasingly complex world. With research, collaboration, and discussion, delegates will formulate and propose solutions to these problems, and hopefully create long-lasting passions that remain with them long after their tenure in Model UN has elapsed. Most importantly to me, I hope that by meticulously crafting, scrapping, and workshopping their ideas in committee with their peers, delegates will be engrained with a sense of vigor and confidence that will inspire them to lead and improve the world as they grow older. After all, having good ideas means nothing if you do not have the conviction to pursue and realize it with everything you have.
